Nanny FAQS

How much does it cost to be a Nanny with your agency?

Zip. Zero. Zilch. It is 100% free for Nannies to register with The Nanny Solution.

How do I apply?

It’s easy! Click Here to fill in our online application. Once we receive your application, one of our team members will contact you. You will meet with a team member either in-person or via video call. If that goes well, The Nanny Solution will help you obtain the required documents, verify your references, and create your Nanny profile.

What are the requirements to be a Nanny with The Nanny Solution?

We require all Nannies to have an interview (either in-person or via video call), a clear criminal record check, valid First Aid / CPR certification, photo ID, and at least two verifiable child care references. See our full list of requirements.

What if I don't meet your requirements?

You should still apply! The Nanny Solution will help you gather the necessary information and documents.

What benefits are there to finding a job through an agency, rather than on my own?

Agencies have the best jobs available, give personal attention, provide ongoing support, ensure safety and respect, and finally, it’s free!

Where can I obtain my First Aid / CPR certification?

Give us a call. There are quite a few options available, so The Nanny Solution can help steer you in the right direction.

Where can I complete a criminal record check?

The Nanny Solution can help you get a criminal record check done online. It is cheaper and quicker than going to your local police station. If you already have a valid criminal record check, we will not require you to get a new one done.

What is the process after I join the agency?

You let us know which jobs interest you. Then, we will send your details to the family, and if they are interested in your profile, we will arrange a meeting for you and the family.

I don’t have a driver’s licence. Is that a problem?

It’s not a problem, but if you do drive, that opens many more opportunities for you. If you are a non-driver, we can still help you find a wonderful family to work for.

What is a driving abstract and how do I get one?

A driving abstract is a document that shows your driving history. We can help you obtain one.

How will I be paid once I am placed with a family?

The families will pay you directly. Typically, you will be paid via e-transfer bi-weekly or bi-monthly.

Do you have families who will pay in cash under the table?

No, all of our families will hire you as an employee. Your employer will submit your taxes on your behalf and provide you with a T4 at tax time. Whether you are a part of our team or not, we highly recommend that you NEVER work under the table.

What is the difference between net pay and gross pay?

Net is your pay after your taxes, CPP, and EI have been deducted. Gross is the amount you are paid “before taxes”. At The Nanny Solution, we always speak in gross terms.

What if I have trouble after I start working for a family?

Give us a call! Our team is always happy to help in any situation. We can help by providing advice, or just lending a listening ear, if that is what you need.

Do I sign a contract?

Yes. Once you have found a family to work for, The Nanny Solution will draft a contract that protects both you and the family.

How long do I have to commit for?

In general, our families hope to meet a Nanny who will be a part of their family for years to come. Having said that, we also have families who just need a Nanny for a few months (i.e. to cover their current Nanny’s vacation, to help over the summer, etc).

What is my commitment to the Nanny Solution?

The only thing we ask from you is clear and timely communication, as well as mutual respect. Check out Our Promise to You, Your Promise to us. on our Resources page.
