Hire a Nanny

The nannies

We recruit professional, high-calibre, nurturing, educated Nannies with a passion for childcare: Early Childhood Education graduates; Montessori-trained Nannies; Certified, Professional Teachers and Tutors; Newborn Care Specialists; experienced Nannies with a variety set of skills (languages, tech, the arts, athletics, food & nutrition).

We have a roster of educated, engaging, and experienced Nannies who provide trustworthy, high-end childcare that is tailored to fit your family's unique needs and lifestyle.

What sets us apart?

A placement with The Nanny Solution means safety and reliability above all else. We are nanny agency industry leaders in Canada, with over fifty years of combined experience in the childcare field. We have the most rigorous screening process in the industry, and we personally interview all of the Nannies, who are only considered for a meeting once our extensive pre-screening requirements have been met. In addition, we call each reference and perform an in-depth personal reference check.

We have connected over 26,000 families with exceptional Nannies and placed over 1,800 Nannies in permanent jobs. We have a success rate of 98%.

Nanny Service areas

Need a nanny in Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto and Ottawa? We can help! We also offer Nannies in other Canadian cities.

The process

Hiring a full-time or part-time Nanny is like adopting a new family member — it’s a really big deal! This is someone your children are going to see every day and likely fall in love with. It’s important that they’re educated, engaging, adaptable, and above all else, trust-worthy. This is no small task. That’s why we take it on.

Step 1: we pre-screen nannies

We only invite the highest quality Nannies with the most extensive childcare experience to the interview table. To be interviewed, potential Nannies must provide:

  • A completed 6-page detailed application form
  • 2 to 5 childcare-related references
  • Photo ID and Visa verification (if applicable)
  • A current First Aid/CPR certificate or proof of registration in an upcoming class
  • A clear Criminal Record Check
  • Driver’s License and Driving Record (if applicable)

We personally interview each potential Nanny. It’s important that we truly get to know each of the Nannies, so we use this time to assess their values, personality, strengths, and areas of opportunity. We call a minimum of two childcare-related references for each Nanny that we believe will uphold our standards, without exception.

Step 2 - tell us what you need

Call The Nanny Solution to discuss your family’s unique needs, then fill out the Family Placement Questionnaire. We’ll call you within 24 hours to review, fill in any gaps, and start searching for your personalized Nanny Solution.

Step 3 - relax while we do the heavy lifting

We contact our network of pre-screened Nannies who fit your needs and lifestyle. We tell them about you and your family. If they’re excited to meet your family and we believe they’d be a great match, we’ll send you their resume and a personal letter written by the Nanny.

You tell us which Nannies you’d like to meet and we’ll coordinate the interviews. You can meet as few or as many Nannies as you’d like — until you find “the one”.

Timing-wise, the process usually takes between 2-8 weeks to complete in Calgary, Ottawa, Toronto, and Vancouver. In cities outside our regular service regions, the process can take between 6-10 weeks.

Step 4 - make it official

You tell us which Nanny you want to hire and we’ll handle the negotiations, draft a contract that is in line with Employment Standards and the Canada Revenue Agency, and coordinate revisions as necessary. Then celebrate!
